He needs their help to locate and steal the magic compass possessed by the Captain Jack Sparrow.
Jack has recently escaped from jail, and is desperately running from an old enemy who wants his life, Davy Jones. Davy Jones is the evil captain who helped Jack originally raise the ship Black Pearl, back before the mutiny that set up the first movie. Jack's only hope to escape Davy Jones and his monster pet Kraken, lies in the buried treasure chest that he must now find with the help of some old friends, with a long overdue wedding to plan. The new Pirates is darker than the first. People expecting a lightly written comedy akin to the first installment will be surprised to find a film more turned into itself. The humor is a little more subdued, and the characters themselves have taken on more depth and complexities than in the first movie.

Not to be worried, the flavor that made the original film so enjoyable is still featured with a more developed plot that is certainly preparing for a Pirates 3 with some kick.

As a consequent to the multiple plot lines that the writers are preparing in this film for the third, the pacing is slow at the beginning. The main conflict of this film does not even start until half way through the 2 hr run time; but all of this is more than compensated for by the quality of the movie.
Pro-Social Content: At several different points, the movie hints towards the fact that Will and Elizabeth are saving sex till marriage.
Summary: The current film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest lives up to the reputation started by its predecessor, and does not disappoint in providing all the hoped for elements of a good pirate movie. In the end though, the most exciting aspect of the whole film is the set up provided for the next installment, due to release in May.
